Stakes Mania At The Red Mile

The cream of the crop from the KYSS program got together at The Red Mile on Sunday evening, as the Lexington oval hosted eight championship finals worth $300,000 apiece.

We'll recap results from each of the finals as they take place.

$300,000 KYSS Final (Two-year-old filly trot)

Dancing Filly overcame a Post 10 start to deliver on a 6-5 promise to the Kentucky faithful, winning in a time of 1:57.2 for trainer Kevin Thomas and driver Ron Pierce.

It was the third consecutive victory for the daughter of Like A Prayer, who defeated Greater Grace and Evening Prayer.

The rookie, who upped her bankroll to $203,862 with the win, is owned by Bulletproof Enterprises of Boca Raton, FL.

$300,000 KYSS Final (Two-year-old filly pace)

Shanghai Lil turned in a sparkling clocking of 1:51.2 for driver Dave Palone en route to picking up her richest payday to date for her owners, All Star Racing Inc. of Towaco, NJ.

The Jennas Beach Boy miss, who hangs her harness bag in the barn of trainer Peter Foley, edged out Warrawee Kay and Palazzo Princess in the rich affair.

The filly has put together an impressive 3-1-1 record in her first six starts, and she has a $198,839 bankroll to go with it.

$300,000 KYSS Final (Three-year-old filly trot)

Body Surfing pushed her win streak to four-in-a-row thanks to a 1:56.2 victory for trainer Kevin Thomas, driver Ron Pierce and owner Bulletproof Enterprises of Boca Raton, FL.

The daughter of Like A Prayer got the better of runner-up Annie Hall and third-place finisher Brighten Up en route to her seventh win of the campaign in just nine attempts.

Despite going winless in two starts as a rookie, Body Surfing now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $239,250.

$300,000 KYSS Final (Two-year-old colt & gelding trot)

Wizard Time pulled off a 54-1 shocker with a maiden-breaking score for driver Trace Tetrick and owner/breeder/trainer Peggy Grant of Lebanon, KY.

The gelded son of Wizard Time, who stopped the clock in 1:57.1, defeated Touchdown Franco and Alliance Hall. In doing so, he improved to 1-1-1 in six career tries and he boosted his career earnings to $156,890.

$300,000 KYSS Final (Three-year-old filly pace)

Btwnyurheartnmine extended her win streak to three-in-a-row for the Miller brothers – trainer Erv and driver Andy – with a 1:50.3 score over her filly foes.

The Real Desire miss halted runner-up Unique Legacy's four-race win streak in the process. Age Of Consent rounded out the top three.

Lake To Sky Farms LLC of Milwaukie, OR and Mark Fransen of Big Rock, IL share ownership on the seven-time winner, who upped her bankroll to $200,277 with the win.

$300,000 KYSS Final (Three-year-old colt & gelding trot)

Shaman Hall finished second, but was placed first, as a result of a costly miscue in deep stretch by Hartmann, who tripped the teletimer in 1:55.3.

That undefeated colt rolled into a break a few strides before the wire, and was eventually placed second as a result of the lapped-on break at the finish. Third prize went to Like A Dream.

Mike Lachance piloted Shaman Hall, a son of Like A Prayer, to the victory for trainer Rolf Ebener and owner Klaus Ringl of Pg, Austria. It was the colt's third win of the season and the fifth of his career. He has stashed away $316,850 in lifetime earnings.

$300,000 KYSS Final (Two-year-old colt & gelding pace)

Carnivore picked up his fourth consecutive victory thanks to a 1:50.3 performance, which tied this year's North American speed record for two-year-old pacers.

The clocking equaled the mark set earlier this year by Annieswesterncard in the final of the Elevation Stake at Indiana Downs.

Ron Pierce guided the Noel Daley trainee to the impressive score over My Old Friend John and third-place finisher Mobile.

Jack Darling Stables Ltd. of Cambridge, ON owns the son of Real Desire, who bumped his earnings to $180,932 with the win.

$300,000 KYSS Final (Three-year-old colt & gelding pace)

Blue Claw capped off the stakes action with a 1:51.4 triumph for the duo of trainer Peter Foley and driver Mike Lachance.

The son of Jennas Beach Boy muscled his way to the victory over Southwestern Dream and Bradley Scott. It was the pacer's sixth win of the season in 12 attempts.

The gelding, who is owned by All Star Racing Inc. of Towaco, NJ, upped his lifetime earnings to $221,270 with the win.
