Slight Bump For Concord Expansion

Work has been temporarily stopped at the site of the old Concord Hotel in Kiamesha Lake, New York, as a permit for the movement of dirt and elevation alterations at the site is required.

Recordonline.com has reported that the permit -- granted by the state Department of Environmental Conservation -- could take weeks to secure. The workers at the location have been sent home until the permit is secured.

The recordonline.com article quotes Tim McCausland, CEO of the Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development, as saying "they [state Department of Environmental Conservation] didn't give a time frame, but they said it would be a quick turnaround."

The site of the old Concord Hotel is to be the home of the new Monticello Raceway when the project is completed.

The article also states that the Union Labor Life Insurance Company yesterday announced that it had obtained $250 million for developer Louis Cappelli's racino, convention centre and hotel project, which is expected to cost upwards of $1 billion.
