Slaley added to her impressive OSS resume on Tuesday at Kawartha Downs, as the Fraserville, Ontario oval hosted five $20,000 Grassroots divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies.
The daughter of Grinfromeartoear started the day with 175 points, and she bumped that total to 225 – the best in the division - thanks to her 1:54.3 score for trainer Bill Robinson and driver Brad Forward.
Forward chopped out panels of :28.1, :57.4 and 1:26 with Slaley, who scooted home in :28.3 to seal the deal. Dreamfair Shannie was second and Intended To Fly finished third.
Gerrie Tucker of Montreal, QC and Ian Fromowitz of Richmond Hill, ON share ownership on the career winner of $74,812. She has found her way to victory lane in eight of her 12 starts this season.
Greek Beach front-stepped her way to a 1:55.1 victory in the opening division for trainer Rob Fellows and driver Aaron Byron. The Astreos miss, who is owned by Fellows and partners Carey Fellows, Dan Knechtel and Sean Strongman, defeated Tammibest and Gerries Madison.
Lyons Ruby led from start to finish for Jody Jamieson, who guided the Marty Fine-trained daughter of Mach Three to a 1:55.1 score. The filly, who is owned by Geoffrey Lyons Mound of North Wales, GB, edged out runner-up All Accounted For and Bunny Mach, who was third.
St Lads Seraph and Jason Brewer found the line just in their $20,000 split. The daughter of Northern Luck, who set most of the pace for trainer Sandra Spencer, held on to win by a nose over A New Scentsation. Yankee Pica was third in the 1:54.3 affair. Spencer shares ownership on the filly with partner Kathleen Brogan of Windsor, Ontario.
Shake That Junk was the quickest divisional winner thanks to her 1:53.4 triumph for driver Jody Jamieson. The Camluck miss doled out splits of :28.3, :57.4 and 1:25.3 before tacking on a :28.1 final frame en route to the win over Slomotion and Keystone Mystique.
Jamieson's 1140545 Ontario Ltd. shares ownership on the speedy sophomore with partners Dr. David Powell, P And J Stable and trainer James "Friday" Dean.
The top 16 point earners will have the chance to compete in a pair of OSS Grassroots semi-finals at Flamboro Downs on October 16. The top four finishers from each of those semi-finals will advance to the OSS Grassroots final on October 24.
In other Tuesday action at Kawartha Downs, Priceless Edition stepped to a 1:53.1 victory in the $16,500 Preferred Pace for the team of trainer Mark Steacy and driver Gord Brown.
It was the third consecutive victory for the four-year-old son of Real Desire, who edged out race favourite Mr Saratoga. Junior K rounded out the top three in the six-horse affair.
Peter Heffering pays the bills on the gelding, who boasts 21 lifetime wins and earnings in excess of $304,000.
