Robert Shepherd has grown accustomed to winning races in bunches this season, and it was very apparent at Flamboro Downs on Thursday evening.
The resident of Cambridge, Ontario reined in six winners on the 12-race card, and in doing so he lifted his 2008 win total to 298. That's a career-best number in single season for Shepherd, who is well ahead of last year's total of 271.
He took the Thursday evening opener with Allybert (1:57.3) before notching a natural hat trick in Races 3 through 5 with PW True To You (1:56), Aforgottendynasty (1:59.4) and Keystone Ricochet (2:00).
Rustling Bunny (1:57.4) bumped his nightly total to five thanks his victory in Race 9, and E L Muscles (2:00.4) pulled off a 23-1 upset in Race 10 to complete Shepherd's six-win performance.
The productive night at the office pushed his 2008 earnings over the $2 million mark - a record for the young reinsman in a single season.
