Silent Swing converted from a perfect pocket trip for the second week in a row to win the $50,000 Open Pace at Woodbine Racetrack.

With Randy Waples in the bike this week, the six-year-old Northern Luck gelding settled in second as Hyperion Hanover (Rick Zeron) fronted the field through a :26.3 opening panel.

Escapable Beaux (Jody Jamieson) tipped out from fifth and advanced on the pacesetter, but remained parked through the half in :55 and the third quarter in 1:23.

As the field turned for home, Silent Swing, the 7-5 favourite, popped the pocket and surged past Hyperion Hanover with a :28.1 final effort for the win in 1:51.2 by three-quarters of a length.

Longshot Western Shore (Mark MacDonald) found room to squeeze by for second while Hyperion Hanover was forced to settle for third.

Silent Swing, who is trained by Jean Louis Arsenault and co-owned by David Shea of Campbellville, Ont. and Reginald Petitpas of Shediac Bridge, N.B., has made 31 trips to the winner's circle in his career. The bay pacer has earned a total of $ $1,236,889 in purses.
