Grand Circuit action continued at Mohawk Racetrack on Thursday evening with a pair of rich Simcoe Stakes divisions on tap for three-year-old trotting fillies.
Bella Dolce used her patented off-the-pace tactics to take home the lion's share of the $134,926 opening division in a career-best clocking of 1:54.3 for driver Paul MacDonell.
The Kevin O'Reilly-trained daughter of Kadabra chased down this year's Hambletonian Oaks champ, Creamy Mimi, in deep stretch en route to the 15th win of her career. Torch tagged along to finish third.
David McDuffee of Nashua, NH bred and owns the talented trotter, who now boasts career earnings of $731,756. She finished second in last year's O'Brien Award voting to Snow White as Canada's top freshmen trotting filly. Her recent form is going to make it very difficult for voters to deny her the year end hardware this season.
Capo Dolce, a Muscles Yankee brother to Bella Dolce, will sell at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale later this year.
Kadealia pulled off a 14-1 upset in her $134,926 split of the Simcoe Stakes thanks to a heads-up Jack Moiseyev steer.
Moiseyev dictated fractions of :28, :57.4 and 1:27.1 with the Brenda Teague-trained daughter of Kadabra before kicking home in :29.3 to post the 1:56.4 clocking. Abby Kadabra was second best and Lass Chance rallied to pick up the show dough.
Elmer Fannin of Lincoln, DE holds the papers on the filly, who picked up her first win of the season after failing to do so in her first 15 attempts. The payday bumped her lifetime earnings to $121,592.
Nicole, a Conway Hall sister to Kadealia, will sell at the Harrisburg Yearling Sale later this year.
