Search Mission Finds Win In Trot-A-Thon

Search Mission completed his mission on Saturday evening in the fastest of the three Kawartha Downs' Trot-A-Thon eliminations.

The seven-year-old son of Angus Hall and driver Dan O'Brian got away fourth as Rebar Man (Callie Rankin) took the early lead.

After Guilford (Per Henriksen) took over the lead at the three quarter pole, 'Mission' was shuffled back to sixth, but made the winning decision to go three wide, finishing the one and a quarter mile elim in 2:30 flat for trainer James MacDonald and owner Michael Asselstine of Plainfield, ON.

Guilford stayed for second and N S Aristocrat finished third.

Ironclad also completed his mission in his elimination for owner, trainer and driver Ann Karin Larsen after sitting third as T Js Conway (Doug Hie) controlled the front end until the third quarter pole. Ironclad reached the front in the stretch, holding on by a head for the win in 2:33.3 as Finaud (Murray Samons) closed hard for second and T Js Conway slipped to third place.

In the final Trot-A-Thon elimination, Hi Edith (Doug Hie) took control of the field as Mighty Moss (Gord Brown) settled in fifth place until making his move at the half to advance to the lead, winning by a head in 2:33.1 for trainer and owner Ray Lowery.

Suzys Solitare (Rankin) finished second, but was placed fourth after breaking stride. Snoops Bytes (Brad Rae) was placed second and Hi Edith was placed third.
