In a message uploaded to its website, SBOA of New Jersey Association president Tom Luchento yesterday gave an update on the current impasse it finds itself in with Freehold Raceway.

The raceway, owned by Pennwood Racing, has currently yet to accept more than $1.6 million in purse supplements. The purse supplement comes via the Purse Enhancement Agreement with the Atlantic City casinos. The funding would go directly to the purse account for Freehold horsemen for November 2008 through January 2009.

"We have not made any progress with Freehold at this time," Luchento was quoted as saying in the statement uploaded to the SBOA of New Jersey website. "Unless there is any development toward accepting our proposal before this afternoon, our attorneys will be requesting the removal of simulcasting as of Wednesday, November 5, 2008. This will not affect live racing."
