Round Table Review Stays Strong In Open

Fresh off a win in the Clash Of The Pacific Final, Round Table Review triumphed in the $17,000 Open Pace at Fraser Downs on Saturday evening.

The six-year-old son of Cambest and trainer/driver Scott Knight moved sharply to the front from Post 3 and set the pace through panels of :28, :57 and 1:25 en route to victory lane in a time of 1:53.1.

The pocket-sitter, Western Search (Darren Howald), finished almost three lengths back in second and Stonebridge Camelot (Billy Davis, Jr.) was third.

The bay gelding is owned by Kelly Hoerdt and Blair Corbeil of Beaumont, Alta. Round Table Review's 21st lifetime win increased his bankroll to $246,654.

In the $17,000 Fillies & Mares Open, driver James Burke and trainer Robert Merschback teamed up for their second win on the card with Robert Murphy's Lil Kim.

The five-year-old mare by Little Steven took the lead from Follow Your Rosa (Bill Davis) after the :28.1 first quarter. The winner of $179,811 in lifetime earnings coasted through panels of :57.4 and 1:26 unchallenged before taking her 17th lifetime victory in 1:53.4.

Follow Your Rosa stayed for second and Furious Five (Serge Masse) closed well for third.

In other action, trainer/driver Bill Davis scored four wins on the 12-race card bringing his yearly training total to 118.

The resident of Langley, B.C. prevailed with Upbid Hanover (1:56.1) in Race 3, Witty Scholar (1:55.1) in Race 7, Beggars Opera (1:55) in Race 8 and Shamardal (1:53) in Race 11.

To date, Davis has had 2,865 training wins earning him over $11.7 million in purses.
