Rookie Filly Pacers Battle In Distinction

Whitemountain Star and Canaco Star used drastically different tactics to find their way to the winner's circle at Sulky Quebec in the $15,000 Distinction divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies, which highlighted the 12-race program.

Whitemountain Sexy front-stepped her way through panels of :29.2, 1:00.4 and 1:31 en route to stopping the clock in 2:01.3 for trainer Marcel Barrieau and driver Gabriel Boily.

The Broadway Blue miss was a length better than runner-up Cee Pee Jenny and Karina Du Faubourg, who finished third.

Jean Boudreau of Saint-Joseph-Du-Lac, QC holds the papers on the two-time winner, who has banked $32,470 to date.

Canaco Star used an off-the-pace approach to find her way to victory lane in the other split. It was a maiden-breaking triumph for the daughter of Yankee Cam.

Mario Charron took an early tuck into the four-hole with the Clayton Miller trainee before latching on to second-over cover in the final half of the mile. The filly only needed a :31.3 final frame to seal the deal by a length over runner-up Shany Fun. RS Dream was third.

With the victory, the colt has stashed away $7,776 in earnings for owners Michael Agostino and 9176 3649 Ontario Inc. of Montreal, QC.

A scary incident occurred in Thursday's second race when Billy And Me, in rein to Kevin Maguire, made a break and fell as the field was in the backstretch for the second time. Four other horses pulled up and failed to finish the race as a result of the fallen horse and driver.

There were no further details available on the spill.
