This morning, Trot Insider spoke with Caroline Robitaille in regard to the CESQ Yearling Sale. Robitaille informed Trot Insider that the one-day sale, scheduled for October 11, has been cancelled.
"I went to the Canaco Sale over the weekend to see how it went," Robitaille said. "Last night, the CESQ board of directors had a conference call and it was decided to cancel the CESQ sale."
Trot Insider had spoken to Robitaille on August 18. At that point she had confirmed that the sale would be one day only and was to be held in the paddock at Hippodrome de Montreal. A total of 130 yearlings had been consigned to the sale.
The provincial industry has been volatile over the past months, and Robitaille this morning told Trot Insider that the CESQ is currently taking a 'wait and see' approach.
"We are going to wait for the report from the government commission before we make a decision, but we a re thinking about maybe putting on a yearling sale in the middle of November sometime," said Robitaille.
