Robert Burtch Passes

Robert Burtch, a well-known figure in Ontario's harness racing circles, passed away at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Toronto, Ont., at the age of 82.

Burtch is survived by his wife and former long-time OHHA secretary Dorothy, son Daryl (Julie) of Oakville, daughter Jean Whidden (Les) of Brampton, son Gary (Valerie) of Haliburton, grandchildren Jennifer Doyle (Rob), Robert (Donna), Andrew (Sara), Steven Whidden (Ashley), Bryan, Ashley and Erin, and his great-grandchildren Britney and Alexander. Bob is also survived by his brothers Doug (Lorna) and Jack (Joyce). He is predeceased by his sister Isabelle Harris.

Friends of Bob will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church (85 31st Street, Toronto).
