Rideau Carleton Raceway is putting its best foot forward in a bid to be named the host track for the 2009 OSS Grassroots finals.

The 2008 finals are being held at Flamboro Downs and are a showcase of the best colts, geldings and fillies in the province.

Rideau executives plan on making the event an experience attendees from across North America will not soon forget.

"We plan on taking the event to another level, showcasing not only Rideau Carleton Raceway, but taking advantage of the amenities of the city to further enhance the overall experience," said Warren G. Armstrong, president of RCR Entertainment.

Meetings are already being scheduled with civic groups and organizations. It's hoped that special events can be arranged for the attendees during the championship weekend.

The bid reflects a renewed commitment by Rideau Carleton Entertainment to expand its profile in the racing community across Ontario and the United States.

The event is well publicized across the North American racing scene and will be shown on the HPI television network.

The deadline for submitting bids to the Ontario Sires Stakes and Ontario Racing Commission is October 31 and the championships will run approximately this time next year.
