The three-year-old colt, Ratings Hanover, showed the nine-horse field of geldings how to get the job done on Saturday night in the $14,200 Back To School Pacing Series Final at Kawartha Downs with his wire-to-wire winning effort.
The son of Mach Three was sent straight to the front from Post 2 by trainer/driver Tom Durand. Ratings Hanover maintained a sturdy lead through panels of :28.2, :57.2 and 1:25.3. The bay colt paced home in :29.2, holding off a late rush from the pocket sitter, Strott (Ian McCardle), for the win in 1:55 by half a length. Presidio (Fred Brethour) nabbed the show spot.
Ratings Hanover, who won the series' elimination in a similar fashion, is co-owned by Durand and June Durand of Puslinch, Ont. He has banked $29,384 for his connections with four wins in 16 lifetime starts.
