Ramegade Bruiser delighted fans at Kawartha Downs on Tuesday afternoon with his gate-to-wire triumph in the $15,000 Preferred Pace as part of the ongoing Kawartha Classic Pacing Series.
With Brad Rae at the reins, Ramegade Bruiser showed early speed leaving from the inside post as With Anticipation (Sylvain Filion) and Junior K (Doug Brown) sat in second and third. The post time favourite led the field single-file past the :27.1 quarter pole mark.
Junior K put the early pacesetter to the test, advancing on the outside through panels of :56.2 and 1:23.3, but it was all Ramegade Bruiser as he charged home in 1:51.2, holding on for the win by a head against a late rush from Just Plug It In (Anthony MacDonald). Junior K finished third.
The five-year-old gelding out of Rambaran notched his 25th lifetime win, boosting his bankroll to $480,169 for trainer and owner David Brown of Cannington, Ont.
