Primary Purpose was flawless in his $13,200 Breeders Stake division for colts and geldings on Friday night, picking up his fifth consecutive victory for trainer/driver Rod Therres over a sloppy racetrack at Fraser Downs.
The two-year-old son of Cammibest, who won last week's first leg and a Sandown Breeders Stake in September, shot to the lead from Post 3 and carved out fractions of :27.3, :56.4 and 1:27 en route to a six length victory in 1:57 over Red Star Whippet (James Burke) and Millbanks Express (David Hudon).
Primary Purpose has earned $24,862 in five starts. The bay colt is co-owned by Therres and Charles Macfarlane of Victoria, B.C.
In the first division for colts and geldings, Camblazer rallied from off the pace to score his first lifetime win for trainer David Hudon and owner Bill Boden of Vancouver, B.C.
Silver Star Pride (Jim Marino) left from Post 1, setting the pace with panels of :29.1, 1:00.1 before facing a challenge from Im The Money (David Hudon) en route to the third quarter pole in 1:29.3. As the field turned for home, Camblazer and driver James Burke rallied from fourth with a :28.3 final quarter to win in 1:59 by half a length.
Im The Money, Camblazer's stablemate, was the runner-up while Silver Star Pride finished third.
Oral Fixation broke her maiden with a 1:58.1 wire-to-wire score in rein to Jim Marino in the first of two $13,100 divisions for two-year-old fillies.
The Kent On Nuke miss, who finished second in her division last week, improved her record to 1-2-1 in four starts for trainer Walter Slopianka and the J J J Stables of Aldergrove, B.C. and Alan Anderson of Willows, California.
Celtic Chloe also used front-end tactics to score in her division for trainer Barry Treen and the Shale Stables, Tammy Lynn Turner of Langley and Elizabeth Barbour of Abbotsford, B.C.
With Tim Brown in the bike, the As Promised filly notched her third consecutive win in four starts with a 10-length victory in 1:58.4.
Treen's successful night at the office continued when two more of his pupil's took centre stage in Race 9 (Celtic Bonnie, 1:59.1) and in Race 10 (Meekos Trucker, 1:54).
Tim Brown also picked up another win aboard Classy Character in the $17,000 Open Pace.
The six-year-old son of Shady Character cleared the lead ahead of Hi Time Ascot (Bill Davis) after the opening panel in :26.1. Classy Character posted the following panels of :56 and 1:25 en route to victory lane. The post time favourite held off a late rush from Barona Ferrari (Mike Hennessey) for the win in 1:54.2 by half a length. Hi Time Ascot finished third.
The Amber Lancaster trainee, who is owned by Sandra Brown of Langley and Jack Thompson of Burnaby, B.C., notched her 13th win of the season and increased her yearly earnings to $99,585.
