PEI's Matinee Racetracks Focus Of TV5

Matinee racing in PEI provides a unique nursery for the harness sport in this province, a starting point for horses, horsemen, owners and fans in a fair-like atmosphere free of the pressures of the business of racing.

That atmosphere will be captured on a 30-minute program on TV5, whose team will be filming at Pinette Raceway on Friday, September 17.

TV5 Canada, a French language cable channel, has a partnership with the second-most widely distributed network in the world, TV5MONDE, available in 203 countries and reaching 164 million households worldwide. In Canada, TV5 has 6.3 million subscribers including 4.1 million outside the province of Quebec.

Pinette Raceway director Scott MacPhail is excited about the opportunity to promote the matinee tracks and spread the word about the harness racing day camps available next summer.

MacPhail is hoping for good weather, a good crowd and some good racing. To accommodate the film crew and the shorter daylight hours, racing will start at 4:00 p.m.

Anyone wishing more information should call MacPhail at 902-659-2736.
