Fredericton Raceway hosted a set of stakes events on two cards today and Outlawpositivcharg posted an eye-catching victory in the $7,500 Jennie & Joe Chippin Memorial Pace that was just one-fifth of a second off the aged pacing mark.

The four-year-old gelding out of Blissful Hall sat in the pocket spot as Country Estate (Darren Crowe) posted fractions of :29.1, :58.4 and 1:26.2, but sprinting home in :28.4, Outlawpositivcharg was the victor by over a length, stopping the clock in 1:55.2. The time did establish a new mark for aged pacing geldings.

Country Estate was second and St Peter Star (Danny Romo) was third.

Outlawpositivcharg is trained and driven by Terry Gallant and owned by J Fred Lamont of Calgary, Alta. With 12 wins, he has earned $59,706 in purses.

During the afternoon card, Fredericton hosted four Bill Quigg Memorial Stake divisions for three-year-old pacers.

In the first and fastest $8,000 pacing division for colts and geldings, Ricarras Sun (Brian MacPhee) romped to a 1:56.3 victory over the post time favourite Plea Bargain (Gilles Barrieau) for trainer Trevor Hicken and owner Ken MacInnis of Charlottetown, P.E.I.

The three-year-old Allamerican Native gelding cleared the front ahead of Plea Bargain after the :29.1 first quarter. After posting panels of :58 and 1:27.1 with a two length lead, Plea Bargain popped the pocket and managed to poke a head in front of the pacesetter in the stretch, but Ricarras Sun fought back to score his ninth lifetime win in 1:56.3

In the second colt division, Ride The Lightning and Danny Romo used front-end tactics to get the job done for trainer and co-owner Walter Walker and co-owner Ann Walker of Inverness, N.S.

The Western Paradise gelding picked up his seventh career win in a 1:57.3 clocking. Ammon Shannon (Paul Breau) was second and Arrow Dynamic (Brian MacPhee) came on for third.

In the filly divisions, a pair of Western Paradise misses used similar tactics to pick up victories of their own.

For The Luv Abunny nabbed her third consecutive victory with Danny Romo in the bike. The Maritimer Stake winner cleared the lead after a :30-second first quarter, while the post time favourite Southview Spring (Marc Campbell) sat in the pocket spot.

The Dale Pinkney trainee posted panels of 1:00.1 and 1:29.3 before sprinting home in :28.4 for the 1:58.2 win by over three lengths. Southview Spring stayed for second and Grayland Becky (Bernard McCallum) rounded out the top three.

Jody Campbell of Sidney Mines, N.S. owns the six-time winner.

In rein to Todd Trites, Tobins Paradise dominated her split in 2:01. Porthill Friendly (Gilles Barrieau) closed well for second and Fern Hill Treasure (Stephen Trites) finished third.

The Lady Slipper Stake winner scored her eighth win for trainer Sifroi Melanson and the Ultimate Stable of Dieppe, N.B.
