Only seven three-year-old pacing colts were entered yesterday for the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold elimination scheduled to be contested Thursday, September 25 at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
The OSS rules state that if there are not more horses entered in the elim than can compete in the final, the elim will be cancelled and all horses will be considered declared directly into the final to be held the following week.
Therefore, the Gold elim for three-year-old colt pacers scheduled for Thursday, September 25 at Rideau Carleton Raceway is cancelled.
The $40,000 purse for the Gold elim, as well as the $20,000 purse for the consolation, will be added to the regular purse for the final, making a total Gold final purse for this event of $180,000.
The Gold final will be held on Thursday, October 2 as scheduled and the post positions will be available on Thursday, September 25, the day the final would normally have been drawn.
