Northern Illusion Upsets In Balanced Image

The two-year-old trotter Northern Illusion upset the post time favourite Pembrook Street with a dazzling five length victory in the featured $39,400 Balanced Image Final at Hanover Raceway on Saturday night.

The son of Kadabra made his debut tonight, winning in 2:02.1 for trainer Dan Creighton and the Danterra Racing Stable of Strathroy, Ont.

Northern Illusion (Travis Bowman) got away fifth from Post 4 as King Gus (Shawn Steacy) posted the opening panel in :29.4. Bowman tipped his charge out before the half in 1:00.3 as Pembrook Street (Dale Fritz) found the front end.

Northern Illusion advanced to the lead by the third quarter pole in 1:31.2 and sprinted straight to the winner's circle.

Pembrook Street finished second with Striking Lightning (Stephen Davis) coming on for third.
