Mohawk Racetrack played host to its first set of Ontario Sires Stakes Gold eliminations for two-year-old colt pacers on Sunday night and sons of No Pan Intended swept all three $40,000 splits.
In the opening contest, OK Boromir shipped in from Sarnia and captured his second straight victory with a front-end 1:55.3 tally for driver Gene Piroski.
The son of No Pan Intended - Double Creme was coming off a 1:54.4 win in his career debut on July 5 at Hiawatha Horse Park.
The colt made the front early and then turned in a :28-second final quarter to turn back Riopelle (Jody Jamieson) and Windsong Fortune (Mark MacDonald).
Frank Baker Jr. does the training and co-owns the pacer along with Wray Wilson of Komoka, Ontario.
Nebupanezzar turned in the fastest clocking with a sharp 1:54.1 victory in the second split for driver Steve Condren. The colt made a break at the start of his first career race at Grand River Raceway on July 4, but was flawless in Sunday's contest.
The winning margin was 1-1/4 lengths over runner-up World Away (Jody Jamieson), who is the half-brother to Saturday night's $600,000 Wm. R. Haughton Memorial winner, Mister Big (1:47.4 - $2.2 million). Shipps Xpectancy (Randy Waples) finished third.
Bob MacIntosh trains the son of No Pan Intended - Western Wonder for the Peter Pan Stables of Pepper Pike, Ohio. The colt is a full-brother to The Mohegan Pan ($260,957), who stepped to a lifetime best performance of 1:51 on Saturday evening at Mohawk Racetrack.
The final elimination produced the most drama as race favourite Medoland Machoman crossed the wire first, but was disqualified and placed third for interference in the stretch drive.
Placed the winner was longshot Silver Sunset who returned a whopping $80.70 on the nose. Mike Saftic guided the son of No Pan Intended - Silver Seven from off the pace in the 1:54.3 effort.
L H Remachable (Mark MacDonald), who tried to squeeze through along the pylons in the late going, was elevated to the place spot while Medoland Machoman (Jack Moiseyev) was demoted to third.
John Pentland trains the pacer who was making just his second career start for owner Niele Jiwan of Burnaby, BC. The colt is a full-brother to Gold Not Silver (1:52.4 - $114,326) and a half-brother to Golden Seven (1:51 - $235,241).
