Saturday, November 22 at Exhibition Park Raceway will mark the return of a number of prominent New Brunswick horsemen from their yearly campaign to the state of Maine.

With a new feel of optimism in the provincial industry, the goal will be to try and keep the horsemen home for the 2009 campaign.

Steve Mahar, who has been making the trek to Maine now for several years, along with veteran trainer Bernard Charlton are both back on Saturday. Mike Downey, who calls Fredericton home, is also back to the province and will finish out the 2008 campaign travelling between Saint John and Fredericton.

Bo Sowers, a Woodstock-based horsemen, brings home a number of horses to help bolster the horse population for the last two-months of the year. After Boxing Day, Exhibition Park will cease its racing operations and hand over the reins to the new group under the working name Harness Racing New Brunswick.
