Yonkers Raceway's second sojourn into New York Sires Stakes action offered three-year-old trotting fillies in excess of $223,000 in Monday night's divisions of the Mike Cipriani Trot.
Winbak Dream (Jim Morrill Jr.) turned in the night's fastest state-bred event, going the distance in a time of 1:59.2 in her $39,024 tilt.
The Malabar Man miss, co-owned by (trainer) Joseph and Edward Flynn, picked up her third win of the season in six tries in the second NYSS division of the night.
For his part, Morrill won half of the half-dozen sires stakes events.
Epangeline, runner-up in the $324,694 final of the Hudson Trot, had loomed a short-priced proposition in the third ($38,324) division but was scratched due to sickness.
That defection left Southwind Martini (Jeff Gregory) in the role of race favourite. The filly, who was sent off as the 1-5 choice, prevailed in a time of 2:01.2. The daughter of Conway Hall, owned by Southwind Farm and trained by Jonas Czernyson, is now 5-for-9 this season.
The evening's other state-bred races, each worth $39,024, went to:
Parcc Side - 1:59.3
Its Coast Time -2:01.3
Lola Seelster - 2:00.4
Nirvana Blue Chip 2:00.4
New York Sires Stakes action continues on Tuesday night at Yonkers Raceway, with the $244,035 Art Watson Pace. Three-year-old pacing fillies will square off in five divisions.
