It was “Miller Time” at Indiana Downs on Friday night as reinsman Dave Miller won both $104,900 Kentuckiana Stallion Management divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies.
Hawaiian Drink made a bold second-quarter brush the winning move in the first tilt. Getting away in fourth for Miller at the :27.1 opening quarter, the I Am A Fool – B Passionate filly took command at the :56.4 half.
The Mark Harder trainee blazed to third station in 1:25.4 before holding off a charging Notjustaprettyface (Tim Tetrick) by a neck in 1:53.3. Thou Shall Not (Brent Holland) finished third.
Owned by Bulletproof Enterprises, Hawaiian Drink is four-for-five in her young career and has collected purses of $97,920.
The New Jersey Sires Stakes champ, Twist N Clout, recorded her first win in four starts when she was an open lengths winner in the second split. The Western Ideal – Economic Clout filly sat in the pocket through panels of :29 and :58.2, tracking Limestone Cowgirl (Dan Shelter Jr.).
Miller made his move with Twist N Clout heading to the 1:27 three-quarters and she exploded to a five-length lead turning for home. In the end, the Joe Holloway trained filly was eight and a half lengths the best, tripping the teletimer in a career best 1:53.4. Attitude Hanover (Richard Macomber Jr.) was second and Perfectionist (Marcus Johansson) finished third.
A $40,000 yearling purchase by Val Dor Farms, Twist N Clout is 4-0-1 in seven starts with earnings of $220,151.
