Middlesex Victors Impressive At Western Fair

Round two of the Middlesex County Pacing Series was contested at Western Fair Raceway this evening with nine $9,000 divisions.

Fresh off a victory in the first leg of the pacing series, The Grey Filly posted a convincing win in her second Middlesex start for fillies and mares in a career best clocking of 1:58.3.

The two-year-old Northern Luck miss fronted the field with Mike Sumner in tow through panels of :27.3, :58 and 1:28.2 before kicking away for the win by over five lengths.

Cajon Jubilee (Mark Williams) was second best and Musical Luck (Doug McNair) survived a first-over trip to finish third.

Ray Bunn trains and co-owns the two-time winner with McCarthy Family Farms Ltd. of Granton, Ont.

In the action-packed second division, Wildwind Destiny swept the field for a new lifetime mark of 1:58 in rein to Al Carroll.

Yancam (Travis Bowman) and Twilight Kate (Phil Belore) took turns on the front end through the opening panel of 27:3. With Yancam on top, June The Third (Tony Kerwood) tipped out from third, meanwhile Wildwind Destiny was shuffled back to last.

June The Third cleared the front as the field passed the third quarter pole in 1:27.4, but Wildwind Destiny made a three-wide move from the backfield, sweeping past her competitors with a :29.4 final quarter effort to win by over six lengths.

June The Third stayed for second and Cam From The West (Terry Kerr) rode her cover for third.

The three-year-old Western Maverick filly, who was second in her division of the first leg, improved her record to 4-1-1 in six starts for trainer William McLean and owner Kristopher Haskell of Goderich, Ont.

Topofherclass extended her win streak to four in her fillies and mares pacing division with Dave Wall in the bike.

The three-year-old daughter of Full Scholarship got away fourth from Post 4 as Bullys Hattie (Jody Jamieson) took command of the field through a :28.1 first quarter. Euphoria Seelster (Fred Jamieson), who remained parked through the opening panel, cleared the front end.

As the field passed the half in :59.1, Bullys Hattie popped the pocket forcing Topofherclass to make three-wide decision. The fan favourite kicked into gear, passing the third quarter station in 1:29.2 with five and a half lengths on the field. She finished the mile in 2:00.2.

Island Dolly (Mike Horner) finished over three lengths back in second after making her own three-wide move before the stretch and Bake Me A Pie (Tony Kerwood) was third.

Ron Sullivan owns and trains the bay filly, who sports a record of 4-2-0 in six starts.

Mark Williams engineered a winning trip aboard Dreamfair Shannie in the final fillies and mares division.

As the gate swung open, Ollies First Lady (Mike Sumner) blasted to the lead, but it was Shelbe Ramy (Jody Jamieson) who posted the opening quarter in :28.3.

Dreamfair Shannie tipped out from third en route to the half-mile marker in :59.1, clearing after a passing the third quarter pole in 1:29. With a :29.2 final effort, the three-year-old daughter of Dreamfair Vogel prevailed in 1:58.2 by seven lengths.

Shelbe Ramy was second and Lilliansgrace (Tony Kerwood) came on for third.

The Marvin Waite trainee, who was third in her split last week, picked up her fourth lifetime win for owners John and Mary Lamers of Ingersoll, Ont.

In the first division for colts and geldings, Follow You Home and Tony Kerwood scored his first lifetime win.

The three-year-old son of Northern Luck, who was third in his split last week, got away third but tipped out and advanced on the leader Blueridge Camotion (Travis Bowman) before the first quarter pole in :28.3. The pacesetter refused to surrender the lead, forcing Follow You Home to settle in the pocket.

As the field passed the half in :58, Can't Wait Til May (Trevor Henry) tipped out, but failed to clear the front end. Blueridge Camotion paced on past the three-quarters mark in 1:27.4, but Follow You Home popped the pocket in the stretch and rolled to the wire in 1:58.1.

Blueridge Camotion finished three-quarters of a length back in second and Perfect Evening (Dave Wall) was third.

Kerwood trains the bay gelding for Jefrey Schell and Linda Conway of Southampton, Ont.

Fredsabulldog made it two-in-a-row in the second colts and gelding division with Terry Kerr in the bike.

Tresbest (Travis Bowman) led the field to the first quarter pole in :28.1 where Fredsabulldog launched a first-over bid. The three-year-old son of Fit For Life, who is trained and co-owned by Richard McGlynn, advanced on the pacesetter through a :58.4 half. As the field passed the third quarter station in 1:28.2, Fredsabulldog cleared the front and pulled away by five and a half lengths for the win in 1:58.3.

Longshot Czech The Name (Mike Horner) came on for second and Pretty Niftey (Dave Wall) finished third.

In another division for colts and geldings, Heart Racing notched his second consecutive win in rein to Mike Horner.

The three-year-old Camluck gelding carved out fractions of :28.1, :57.4 and 1:27.7 en route to victory lane.

Magic Baran (Dave Wall) finished three-quarters of a length back in second and Odds On Smiley (Doug McNair) was third.

The Mark Horner trainee scored his fourth lifetime win and lowered his mark in the process for the Sure Gain Stable of Mitchell and Daniel McCann of Parkhill, Ont.

Billiam rallied from off the pace to score his third consecutive victory and seventh lifetime win, giving Terry Kerr a driving double.

As Wantsomeofthis (Andy Moore) set the pace with panels of :28, :58.1 and 1:28.2, Billiam followed the cover of J Ms Stealth (Travis Bowman) on the outside. As the field turned for home, the three-year-old Grinfromeartoear gelding, who is owned and trained by Chad Milner, kicked into action, sprinting to the wire in 2:00 for the win by eight and a half lengths.

No Fun Intended (Doug McNair) came on for second and Ok Amazing (Robert Sparling, Jr.) nabbed the show spot.

In the final colts and geldings split, Last Stretch got the job done for trainer George McClure and owner Douglas Kingdon of Forest, Ont.

With Bruce Richardson in the bike, the four-year-old son of Thatll Be Me fronted the field through fractions of :29.2, 1:00.2 and 1:30.2. With a :29.4 last quarter, the five-time winner triumphed in 2:00.1 by three-quarters of a length.

Vogelinstyle (Travis Bowman) followed for second and Chico The Man (Andy Moore) rounded out the top three.
