Driver Catello Manzi, injured in a multi-horse racing spill yesterday at Chester Downs, remains hospitalized as of Monday morning at Crozer-Chester Medical Center with a broken clavicle and fractured ribs, according to his wife, Ellen.
Manzi, driving Philos Hanover, was dislodged from the race bike while trying to avoid the fallen Fake Denario in Race 12.
Eric Goodell, the driver of Fake Denario, also was taken to Crozer-Chester following the accident and reportedly was released later that night.
Crozer-Chester officials would confirm only that Goodell was not currently a patient at the facility. Goodell could not be reached for comment.
Two other drivers involved in the incident, Tim Tetrick and Brian Sears, did not sustain significant injuries.
All four horses left the track under their own power.
Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Manzi and Goodell quick recoveries.
