When you're fortunate enough to draw the rail on a half-mile track, you have take advantage of the situation. Magnificentobseshn drew it, and she did it in Thursday's $55,000 Elite Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies at Sulky Quebec.
The daughter of Broadway Blue was hustled to the lead by driver Mario Charron, who sliced out splits of :29.1, 1:00.4 and 1:30.3 before drawing away to win by almost two lengths in a time of 2:02.3.
Magnificentobseshn, who was sent off at odds of 5-1, defeated Whitemountain Sexy and Karina Du Faubourg. Jean Paul Charron conditions the rookie for R Berthiaume Inc. of Montreal, Quebec.
Odds-on favourite Flanagan Beauty, who tasted defeat for the first time in seven tries when she made a break and finished seventh in the Lucien Bombardier Stakes at Hippodrome de Montreal on October 5, struggled to a sixth-place finish after getting parked every step of the mile.
Purchased for $40,000 at last year's CESQ Yearling Sale, Magnificentobseshn won for the third time in nine tries while pushing her earnings in excess of $46,000.
