In terms of North American mainstream media, it doesn't get much bigger than USA Today, and the publication has spoken to Somebeachsomewhere's co-owning trainer Brent MacGrath heading into the Meadowlands Pace eliminations Saturday.
No matter if it a half-mile oval or one-mile track, post position is always a factor -- especially in a $1.1 million race. MacGrath is fully aware, and echoed that sentiment to USA Today. With Saturday's elim winners able to pick posts for the final, there is great reason to hit the wire first.
"There is a big difference between middle of the pack and the 10-hole (starting from the far outside)," said MacGrath. "Even if you feel you have the best horse, you want every advantage you can get. It's the same as in any sport."
MacGrath went on to say that, "[Somebeachsomewhere] seems to like to roll in the backstretch. I think he's a horse who's made for Meadowlands Racetrack."
