Somebeachsomewhere's co-owning trainer, Brent MacGrath, has gone on the record as saying that he has high hopes that the champion Mach Three colt will break Cambest's 1:46.1 World Record at the Red Mile this fall.
"I am confident that Somebeachsomewhere will break Cambest's record of 1:46.1 when he races at the Red Mile," MacGrath told Doug Harness in a story published today in the Truro Daily News.
MacGrath stated that in order to have Somebeachsomewhere in top form for the Red Mile's stakes event, he will not have his pupil participate in the Little Brown Jug.
"We are aiming this horse to break Cambest's World Record," MacGrath explained. "I don't think it would be fair to the horse to race him in the Jug and expect him to be ready for a world record performance 10 days later."
In the Truro Daily News article, MacGrath commented on 'The Beach's' World Record 1:49.2 clocking in Flamboro Downs' Confederation Cup this past Sunday. He also said that The Beach will next see action at the upcoming Simcoe Stakes at Mohawk Racetrack (September 6).
