Lous Legacy rallied in the stretch and drew off to a two and a half-length victory in the $85,000 Harold Dancer Memorial Open Trot this afternoon at Freehold Raceway.
Lous Legacy, bred and owned by Mal and Janet Burroughs LLC of Westwood, New Jersey, covered the mile in 2:00.1 and returned $6.40, $3.20, $4.80.
The first three finishers were all first-crop sons of the ill-fated Triple Crown winner Windsongs Legacy, who died earlier this year.
Lous Legacy, who is out of the Meadow Road mare Lady Love McBur, improved his record three wins and two seconds in five starts and lifted his earnings to $57,500.
Jim Marshall III was in tow to the Chuck Sylvester trainee.
Holding on for second was Mystro Hanover, who paid $4.60, $4.60. It was three lengths back to Vesuvio AS, who returned $7.40, in third.
The Harold Dancer Memorial Open Trot for two-year-old by New Jersey-based stallions is sponsored by the Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey.
