The fifth leg of the 6K Series highlighted Rideau Carleton's Friday night card and a pair of Paul Loranger, Jr. pupils swept the $4,800 trotting divisions.

Sonic Yankee opened the card with a win in the first division of the 6K Trotting Series for Loranger.

In rein to Gilles Gendron, the nine-year-old gelded son of Donerail got away fifth from Post 2 as Rudy Valley (Sandy Jones) set the pace with a opening panel of :29.3. Make Mine Chocolat (John MacDonald) made a first-over attempt from third with Sonic Yankee catching his cover through the following panels of 1:01.1 and 1:30.4.

As the field turned for home, Sonic Yankee swung three-wide and with a late stretch burst of speed, the 8-5 post time favourite prevailed in 2:02.

Rudy Valley finished a quarter-length back in second and Make Mine Chocolat nabbed the show spot.

Sonic Yankee has recorded 18 career wins and over $180,000 in earnings.

In the second trotting division, Loranger's Pacopaco and driver Anne Marie Turenne pulled off a 14-1 upset.

In the lone division of the 6K Pacing Series for fillies and mares, Jeri West and driver Gord Brown prevailed by head in 1:59 after rallying from last place in a compact field of 10.
