Last Call For 'The Beach's' Shoes

Published: July 9, 2008 11:32 am EDT

Standardbred enthusiasts are reminded that the deadline to bid on a pair of Somebeachsomewhere's shoes on ebay.ca is tonight at 8:56 p.m. (EDT).

The pair of shoes are just one of the collectable items available via a bid. A copy of Charles Leerhsen's Dan Patch biography Crazy Good: The True Story of Dan Patch, the Most Famous Horse in America is also part of the attractive entry.

The copy of 'Crazy Good' is autographed by Leerhsen and all ten drivers that participated in the 2008 edition of the Pepsi North America Cup.

All proceeds from the auction will be going towards the Chase McEachern Foundation, which provides assistance in the purchase, training and community awareness of portable defibrillators in high risk community locations.

Chris Bourassa, assistant trainer in the Jack Darling Stable, is the individual behind the initiative.

"I decided on [the money raised going toward] the Chase McEachern Foundation because I really got familiar with the cause through Randy Waples. The idea of horsemen and racing fans being able to give money to save lives is about as pure as any cause can be," Bourassa told Trot Insider last week.

Bourassa in the process of getting a letter of authentication from Somebeachsomewhere's co-owning trainer Brent MacGrath.

As of 4:00 p.m. (EDT), the current bid sat at just $405 (Cdn.).
