Looking to nail down his fifth-consecutive victory, Real Desire gelding Priceless Edition has drawn Post 2 for the $50,000 final of the Kawartha Classic Pacing Series, scheduled as Race 6 Saturday at the Fraserville, ON oval.
The Kawartha Classic Pacing Series has been taking place since January. Horses amassed points over the multi-leg event.
Conditioned by Mark Steacy and to be driven by Gord Brown, Priceless Edition has had a solid four-year-old campaign for his connections. In 25 starts so far in '08, the career winner of 21 races has recorded 10 wins, three second-place finishes and a trio of thirds. The gelding lowered his mark to 1:51.1 over the Kawartha five-eights mile strip this season and has banked $118,040 on the campaign.
Priceless Edition, who has been installed as the 2-1 morning line favourite, will start from Post 2 in the nine-horse event. Priceless Edition topped the 'Kawartha Classic' leaderboard this season with 61 points.
O'Brien Award winner Admirals Express (PP4, Reg Gassien, 9-2) has also gained entrance to the final and will lay it all on the line for trainer Mike Hales. The winner of over $2 million in lifetime earnings is coming in fresh from an open-length victory October 14 at Kawartha in 1:53.2. Admirals Express amassed 29 Kawartha Classic points throughout the season.
Even though he has drawn the outermost starting point, Post 9, With Anticipation has been gauged as the 3-1 third early choice. Richard Moreau trains the six-year-old Jennas Beach Boy gelding and Aaron Byron will be in the bike.
Duane Marfisi pupil Just Plug It In is the 5-2 second morning line selection. The four-year-old Artsplace gelding will start from Post 3 with pilot Anthony MacDonald.
