Just Plug It In prevailed in the $50,000 Kawartha Classic Series Pacing Final on Saturday night at Kawartha Downs on a track rated sloppy while Stoic took the $13,400 Trick Or Treat Trotting Series Final.
Just Plug It In and driver Anthony MacDonald got the ball rolling right from the start, powering past Trouball (Steve Skilton) as the field reached the first quarter pole in :27.4.
The 2-1 second choice posted a :56.2 half before pulling away by six lengths through a 1:24.2 third quarter. Just Plug It In finished the mile in 1:55.1, a length and a half ahead of the favourite, Priceless Edition (Gord Brown). Junior K (Doug Brown) finished third.
The four-year-old son of Artsplace, who is trained by Duane Marfisi and owned by Alan Alber of Thornhill, Aaron Waxman of Brantford and the PSHL Stable of Carlisle, Ont., made his 11th trip to the winner's circle and lifted his career earnings to $185,038.
In the Trick Or Treat Trotting Series Final, Stoic took the lion's share of the $13,400 purse in rein to Gord Brown.
As Aerial Victory (Anthony MacDonald) carved out the early fractions of :29.4 and 1:01.2, Stoic advanced on the outside from seventh and claimed the lead before the third quarter mark in 1:31.1. The five-year-old son of Basil, who is owned by Patricia Wall of Omemee and James Patrick Wall of Youngs Point, Ont., splashed home in 2:01.4.
Copper John (Randy Fritz) recovered from an early miscue to finish second almost two lengths back and River Road Photon (Stuart Cochrane) was third.
The Mark Winnacott pupil notched his ninth lifetime win and increased his bankroll to $48,906.
