After a month-long strike which ran from October 8 to November 8, horse racing will get underway in Italy once again tomorrow afternoon.
On Sunday, the prestigious Gran Premio Delle Nazioni, with a total purse of $520,000, will be raced at San Siro in Milan.
The United States Trotting Association has reported that via the strike, Italian horsepeople will be getting more purse funds for 2009.
The report states that Italian Parliament yesterday voted in a new law which will see the Italian horse racing receive 0.7 per cent of the taxes paid by the owners of slot machines.
It is being projected for 2009 that the 0.7 per cent of taxes could equate to 130 million Euros.
