Hyperion Hanover converted from the perfect pocket trip to pick up his second consecutive Open Pace victory for a purse of $50,000 tonight at Woodbine Racetrack in a career best equaling performance.
The five-year-old gelding, driven by Rick Zeron, settled in the pocket spot as Silent Swing (Paul MacDonell) powered to the lead from Post 8, setting the pace with panels of :26.3, :54.4 and 1:22.2.
As the field turned for home, Silent Swing maintained a two-length lead, but the favourite, Hyperion Hanover, tipped out and charged on by for the win by over one length in 1:49.2.
Silent Swing held on for second and longshot Clowns Smile (Mark MacDonald) came on for third.
