The third and final leg of the Globetrotter Goodwill Racing Series will be held Sunday, August 31 at the Pinette Raceway staring at 2:00 p.m.

The series, sponsored by The PEI Colt Stakes with support from Pedigree Matching Globetrotter and Shur-Gain Feed Services, is open to two and three-year-old trotters or pacers that are non-winners of a pari-mutuel race.

Leading the standings for overall top horse in the series are the three-year-old pacing filly Victorian Hussy with youthful rookie driver Josh Sentner and the two-year-old trotter Dusty Lane Dot, who was driven to victory last weekend in Kensington by volunteer track announcer Rocky Schurman.

Entries for the Series must be declared by Thursday and can be phoned in to Norman Hall at 902-368-2340. Each class will race for a prize total of $500 in addition to the Globetrotter trophies and merchandise for leg winners and overall series winners, and feed certificates from Shur-Gain.

Entries for the balance of the program will be accepted on race day as usual and a large turnout is expected as the track conducts its official re-opening after the renovations completed in the past year.

Matinee racing is alive and thriving, thanks to Provincial Government support, and Pinette can expect up to 60 entries for the days racing which is organized by Pinette race chairman Scott MacPhail.

Assistance for travel costs is provided through the Matinee Racetracks initiative administered by the PEI Harness Racing Industry Association.

PEI Colt Stakes President John Clarey is pleased with the series to date. "It is a great opportunity for young horses to get some racing experience and we hope to continue to support this series in the future especially next year when we celebrate our 75th Anniversary as the oldest stakes program in Canada", he noted.
