The Montreal Gazette ran another story this past Sunday detailing the ripple effect horsemen have been dealing with since Hippodrome de Montreal has ceased to host live racing.
Trainer Marcel Barrieau told The Montreal Gazette that his stable shrank from 21 horses to 14 in two weeks, and that he also expects that number to reduce.
"I'll probably end up with seven or eight, the way things are going," said Barrieau. "I can't remember the last time I had so few."
Conditioner Normand Bardier Jr. also offered his comments.
"The last few years we've lived on promises and dreams," he said. "Now, the dreams are dying."
