More than half of Flamboro Downs' Monday program was dedicated to two-year-old trotting fillies, who invaded Canada's fastest half-mile oval for OSS Grassroots action.
Simply Stirling took the opening $20,000 split in a career-best clocking of 2:01.4 for owner/trainer/driver Roy Jeffries. The win bumped her bankroll to $34,800.
It was the third Grassroots title of the season for the daughter of Mr Lavec, who drew away to win by three lengths over Trinity Elaine. Girlsruleboyslose rounded out the top three.
Town Hall Babe went coast-to-coast in the next division for trainer/driver Wayne Henry, who watched the Amigo Hall miss improve to 4-2-1 in nine starts thanks to her 2:03 decision.
Owned by Henry Stable of Arthur and Daniel McCann of Parkhill, the rookie held on to win by a half-length margin over Stonebridge Marita. Macassie finished third.
Winning Agenda celebrated a maiden-breaking victory in the third division for the team of trainer Herb Holland and driver Anthony Haughan. She held on for a narrow score in a time of 2:02.4 for partners Corrine Ryan, Serafino Barone and Carolyn MacIsaac.
The Mutineer miss held on to win by three-quarters of a length over Maplewood. Dutchess Seelster, who was sent off as the 1-2 favourite, had to settle for the show dough.
Love To Flaunt also tasted the winner's circle for the first time in her career thanks to a 2:04.4 score in gate-to-wire fashion for trainer John Bax and driver Steve Byron.
The homebred daughter of Angus Hall, who is owned by Al Libfeld, Marvin Katz and Sam Goldband, was a handy winner over Abigail Eden and Polished Maple.
Trinity Krysta turned in an eye-catching clocking of 2:01.1 – the quickest of the Grassroots tilts – for the duo of trainer Brenda Spence, driver Mitch Sahely and owned Denis Simard.
The daughter of Potato Race drew off to win by seven lengths over Singin Moe. Pleasure Skate rounded out the top three.
With the victory, Trinity Krysta improved to 3-1-1 in nine starts and she pushed her lifetime earnings to $37,900.
Mind Over Money capitalized on a pocket trip to take home the hardware in the final division. She popped out late to win by three-quarters of a length in a time of 2:02.4 for trainer Jim Dennie and driver Stuart Sowerby.
The daughter of In Conchnito, who is owned by Rob Dennie of Walkerton, defeated Lindys Goddess, who was sent off as the 6-5 favourite, and Berndt Axle.
It was the fourth win of the season in eight tries for the career winner of $35,205.
The rookie trotting fillies head to Windsor Raceway on October 7 for the last Grassroots event of the season. The top 16 points earners following that event will have a change to advance to the Grassroots semi-finals on October 17 at Flamboro Downs.
