Freaky Friday At Monticello

It was quite the unique day on Friday at Monticello Raceway as the card featured two races that finished in a dead-heat.

The first dead-heat of the afternoon was in the first race, a Catskill Amateur Drivers Series Pace, when Todd Whitney got Moonlit Tori up in the final strides to finish simultaneously with the pacesetter Shania Twain, driven by David Yarock, in a time of 1:58.4.

The former is owned by Bob Medeiros while the latter is a possession of her driver, Yarock.

Two horses finishing at the same time again happened in the sixth race when Whelans Mark, driven Kyle DiBenedetto and Winsmith Bliss, in rein to Jordan Stratton, both rallied from far back and came home together in a 2:01.2 clocking in a maiden pace.

Whelans Mark, a two-year-old son of Whelan Willie, is owned by John & Gayle Grzybowski while Winsmith Bliss, a three-year-old Blissful Hall gelding, is the property of Julianne Bobby and Scott Woogen.

Another winner of special note on the Friday card was Hogies Cam. Jordan "the Kid" Stratton reined the 10-year-old Camluck gelding to a 1:56.3 victory, which was the pacer's 15th win of the season.

Hogies Cam continues to lead North America in races won this year and the pacer has a shot at equaling, or beating, the Monticello Raceway track record of 22 wins set by Golden Storm GB in the early 1980's.

Hogies Cam is owned by Charles Strukel and trained by Bob Beauregard.
