Shes A Fan and Northern Duchess might not be of legal drinking age in horse years, but their owners can celebrate with a cool one after their two-year-old pacing fillies turned in impressive performances on Wednesday at Flamboro Downs in the Bud Light Stakes.

In the $45,856 first division, Shes A Fan, who hails from the powerful Carl Jamieson stable, settled into second from Post 2 heading to the opening quarter, which was set by Shellace (Mike Sumner) in :28. Shes A Fan shot out of the pocket for driver Jody Jamieson and quickly took command at the three-eighths, and she never looked back from there.

The daughter of Artiscape – Tear Drop paced through an easy middle half of :58.4 and 1:28 before turning it on in the final quarter, which she covered in :28.4 for a length and a quarter score in 1:56.4.

Shellace finished in the place spot with Pantecostal (Mike Horner) using a rail trip to grab third.

Carl Jamieson co-owns Shes A Fan ($2.10) with partners Thomas Kyron, The Hastings Mill Inc. and George Harrison. The $22,000 yearling purchase from Harrisburg is now two-for-two lifetime with earnings of $25,928.

Trainer John Pentland has harnessed many good-looking freshman pacing fillies over the past couple of years and it appears he has another one. The $46,676 second split saw Northern Duchess go gate-to-wire for Pentland and driver Mike Saftic.

The Western Terror – Lady Mist filly cut her own mile in :28, :57.4 and 1:26.3 en route to a six and a quarter-length triumph in 1:55.2. Spoiled Beach (Luc Ouellette) won the battle for second over Take My Pulse (Steve Condren).
Northern Duchess ($2.90), who was making her lifetime debut, was a $39,000 Forest City yearling purchase by Karen Carroll.
