Donald Rankin has been nothing but money for owner/driver Paul MacLean since being claimed and the trotter continued to pad his bank account with another win in the $10,000 Preferred Trot at Sudbury Downs on Wednesday.

MacLean took the eight-year-old Conway Hall gelding for $7,500 at Western Fair Raceway back on April 21. Since then in nine starts, Donald Rankin has collected six victories and three second place finishes. The initial investment has returned $36,000 for MacLean.

With Post 1 in tonight's contest, Donald Rankin was put on the lead by MacLean and the duo would not be caught. Donald Rankin cut fractions of :30, 1:00.4 and 1:31.4 en route to a three-quarter length score in 2:02.1.

Armbro Edward (Justin Turcotte) got the place spot while the show went to Armbro Beau (Ron Turcotte).

France MacLean trains Donald Rankin, who is 7-3-1 in 21 attempts this season, banking $42,744. The gelding is an 18-time winner lifetime with earnings of $189,835.
