Crisis In Italian Racing Industry

Italy's horse racing industry is currently at a standstill, as funding issues from the governing body have caused the country's horsemen to cease racing.

More than 2,000 horsemen recently protested in Rome, but nothing changed, which caused a ten-day strike.

Some of Italy's biggest standardbred races at the Tordivalle track in Rome were cancelled due to the situation. The cancellations included the Oaks, Gran Premio Gaitano Turilli and Derby Italiano, Europe's richest race for three-year-old trotters
