Baymount Incorporated and the National Capital Region Harness Horse Association are moving closer to signing a contract for the new Quinte Exhibition and Raceway scheduled to open in Belleville, Ontario in 2010.

Ray Veeneman, Baymount's vice president of Operations, and Russ Moulton, executive director of the NCRHHA, spoke with Trot Insider this afternoon regarding the progress.

"We've been in talks with the NCRHHA for several months. Drafts of the agreements have gone back and forth, and now we are in the final stages of drafting the agreement," said Veeneman.

"Things are progressing quite nicely," said Moulton. "We are happy with the way things are proceeding."

Veeneman said that dirt is "moving" and plans for the new track remain on schedule for a 2010 opening.

For a track that was to be opened in 2006,and now the say January 2010 with 30 race date in 3 mounths is this for real.

I am reading alot of negativity in response to the lates news.
Lets try and stay optomistic a new track on the belleville area would be great for all
horsemen

I don't understand why Baymount is interested in a racing contract with horsemen when there is and hasn't been any racing going on.

Why is OHHA HOSTING A MEETING TONIGHT IN NAPANEE IF NATIONAL CAP IS TAKIING OVER ??

I,and every other horseman in this area hope that this track gets built
but these delays are unbelieveable.I am very surprised that the ORC or the
OLGC hasn't forced it to get started OR the slots taken away and
allocated elsewhere. When I see a footing poured I will begin
to believe it will happen.

Its all a dream or actually a nightmare. I am sick of the whole thing. It s never going to get built.

Does the "dirt is moving " mean they are burying the opening of the track, or constructing. I lean towards them accomplishing the former!!!!
