This afternoon, Trot Insider spoke with trainer Rene Bourassa, who broke the sad news that the sharp three-year-old Camluck colt had to be euthanized this past weekend at the University of Guelph.
Out of the Artsplace mare Arts Cover Girl, Constant Craving had been very strong in his 10 starts this season, posting a record of seven wins and a pair of third-place finishes.
"When he was with Suzie Kerwood last year he had to go in for surgery and get a piece of his intestine cut out as a result of colic," Bourassa said.
"I jogged him last Friday and he was fine, but later, around lunchtime, he began colicing. I treated him as best as I could, but on Saturday morning the situation got to the point where I had to take him to Guelph."
Bourassa told Trot Insider that Guelph ran Constant Craving's fluids and treated him, but a very expensive surgery was required to save his life and the colt had to be euthanized.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the connections of Constant Craving.
