After being sent off the heavy favourite from Post 5, Classic Lane and driver David Miller made the front early and didn't look back, capturing the $82,830 Buckette in a North American season's best 1:55.3 this afternoon at the Delaware Ohio County Fairgrounds.
Miller had Classic Lane, the three-year-old daughter of Lindy Lane, overland into the first turn and cleared to the lead after the :28.2 opening quarter.
The student of trainer Peter Foley proceeded cut the next two fractions in :58 and 1:27.1, respectively, before coming home with a :28.3 final quarter-mile clocking.
Charged Freight, who raced first-up with driver Ray Paver through much of the back half, finished second. Beat The Bue and pilot John Campbell finished third.
The 1:55.3 clocking went down as the fastest mile by a three-year-old trotting filly over a half-mile track in North America so far this year.
There was a compact five-horse field for the event. Witty Girl broke early from Post 4.
