Clare MacDonald Update

Haley MacDonald, daughter of trainer/driver Clare MacDonald, has provided Trot Insider with an update on her mother's condition after the 46-year-old was injured in a Saturday accident at Exhibition Park Raceway.

"She is doing alright, thankfully," Haley said about her mother, who was knocked unconscious from the incident. "She has a bad concussion and she's pretty sore and bruised, but other than that she's fine."

The accident occurred going into the final turn of the 11th race of the evening card when O U Hussy (driven by Marc Campbell) fell in the stretch, causing MacDonald's mount, Larshegoes, to follow suit.

"Her CAT scans came back clean and there are no broken bones, so we are very thankful for that," furthered Haley.

Trot Insider will provide updates on the situation as they are made available.

It has been a rough summer for Clare in terms of injuries. On June 1, MacDonald was kicked in the face by one of her horses, which caused her to miss time and require correctional surgery.

Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Clare MacDonald a quick and speedy recovery.
