A 166-horse catalogue was offered in the 2008 ASHA Yearling Sale, which was held earlier this afternoon at the Northlands Agricom in Edmonton, Alberta.
Cheeky Monkey, a Real Desire colt out of Southwind Jubie, topped today's auction when he fetched a final bid of $42,000.
Ed Dhoedt of St. Albert, Alberta purchased the youngster, who is the first foal of a daughter of Breeders Crown winner, Juliets Fate (1:50.1 - $682,094).
A pair of yearlings by Camystic brought the next highest price tags of $32,000 and $30,000, respectively.
Light The Board, a bay colt who is the first foal out of Beach Lightning (1:53.4 - $166,204), went to Blair Corbeil of Beaumont, Alberta for $32,000.
Corbeil also signed the ticket on the other Camystic colt, Wicked Grin, for $30,000. The youngster is the second foal out of the mare Cool Grin.
Her first foal, a Mantacular colt named Grin A Peg, has won three of his seven freshman starts. He was a 1:56.3 OSS Grassroots winner at Western Fair Raceway on October 10. He won that assignment by 14 lengths.
