Kentucky's governor, Steve Beshear yesterday appointed six new members to the Kentucky Equine Drug Council, which advises the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission on research and testing of equine drugs.
An article on thoroughbredtimes.com states that Dr. Jerry Yon, who was named chairman of the council in July, will retain his role. Yon's term will expire in 2012.
Along with Yon, Kentucky HBPA president Rick Hiles was also reappointed.
Senator Damon Thayer will remain on in the position of legislative representative until a replacement is announced or until he is reappointed, according to the thoroughbredtimes.com article.
The new members that Beshear has appointed include Hollie Swanson, Rogers Beasley, Frank Marcum and Andrew Roberts.
The new members will be replacing John Ward, Jr., Fairfield Bain, Bill Napier, Alan Leavitt and Alice Chandler.
