A gate-to-wire performance for Meadowview Matty and driver Mike Langdon in Sunday's $20,000 Preferred Trot at Flamboro Downs was a one-way ticket to the winner's circle and the record books.

After a recall and early miscue from overwhelming public choice Abbey Road C, Langdon used rail position to make every call a winning one through splits of :27.4, :57.4, and 1:26.1 before kicking home in :29 to hit the wire in a new lifetime best 1:55.1. Will He (David Miller) and Brawn Seelster Callie Rankin) picked up the place and show prizes for their efforts.

The time of the mile equals Lesterstrikesagain's track and national standard for aged trotters on a half-mile track.

Brad Shakes trains and co-owns Meadowview Matty (Angus Hall - Meadowview Molly) for co-owners Paul Shakes of Stayner, Cal Patterson of Wasaga Beach and Ken Winters of Singhampton, Ont.
